This blog isn’t really about the classic John Donne poem, but it strikes me how many clients start working with Pragmatico with a view that it is mainly their business efficiency that they want to improve; or they are looking for help with some aspect of their personal effectiveness because their business is booming.
Our personal lives and our business lives are not separate islands, but each are “a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine” that makes us who we are.
How can you realistically expect to improve the performance in your business when your personal life is suffering? This might be because of the stress from your business, or perhaps because you haven’t quite worked out the priorities between your personal and your business objectives, thinking that they are quite separate from each other.
People struggle to devote time for their self-care (health, happiness, relationships) when they are so distracted by their work because it is either:
- floundering;
- undergoing massive change; or
- can’t keep up with demand.
Conversely, as health, happiness and/or relationships struggle it is difficult to maintain real effectiveness in your career.
Pragmatico takes a combined approach to these problems, often applying simple steps that gradually improve the balance between life and business and the effectiveness of both. As you become more aware of the interaction between the two and make more deliberate choices about your priorities, you can develop a more centred approach in both aspects of your life. You will also find our approach pragmatic to say the least.
